FAQS & Tips
I’ve never done yoga – are the group classes right for me?
Absolutely! If you aren't comfortable with group classes just yet, one of the best ways to start yoga is through private practice. Begin on the right foot by learning the fundamentals and ensuring you’re always moving in a way that serves your body’s needs.
What is a Virtual Class at Zone 'N' Zen Yoga?
Virtual classes are offered so you can join from the comfort of your home or anywhere in the world and practice. The teacher sees you (via Google Meet or Zoom) on a large screen and teaches to you specifically. You are able to view the teacher and follow along throughout.
What if I don’t have my own yoga props at home?
Towels, large firm pillows, and/or thin blankets can be used in place of yoga blankets or bolsters. Thick books or more firm towels/blankets can replace yoga blocks. Belts or neck ties can replace a yoga strap. It's best to have these items nearby before class begins.
Can I access these virtual classes after the Live Session?
While that's not a feature currently, I am working on building an on-demand video library of past classes as well as new classes. I will send out an email when this goes live.
Can I book an in-person private session?
I am available for in-person sessions for students in the DFW area. Please make sure to have your own yoga mat and props prior to the session.
What is the benefit of a private session versus a public class?
Private instruction ensures that every session is designed entirely to meet your individual needs and goals. You will receive undivided attention as you move through your practice, learn proper alignment and modifications of different postures and transitions, and work on the aspects of yoga that you want most.
What if I have an injury?
Depending on the injury and insight from your doctor or physical therapist, yoga will likely be beneficial to your recovery. There are many modifications and variations to movement in yoga, including Chair Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
Tips for your best experience:
To receive individual cues and guidance, leave your camera on and position it so that the teacher can see your full body on your mat while standing and sitting. Having your camera on is optional but it will optimize your experience.
Show up on time for class so you don't miss any warm up poses. If you need to step away and gather your props or doing anything, please feel free. But, logging in early/on time gets you set up and not rushed to enter class.
Create a dedicated space to practice in. This always helps bring you to your mat and keep you coming back. A dedicated space or anything that makes the time you’re taking to practice feel special. An actual altar, vase of flowers, candle, putting an essential oil on your skin or diffusing can help bring a greater presence to your practice, enhancing the benefits long term.
